Tappenkarsee, Austria

INDESCRIBABLE!!!! We hiked up Tappenkarsee Friday morning, stayed through Sunday and then hiked back down Sunday morning. The uphill hike was very steep and so rewarding once we got to the most tranquil lake in the Alps. It was like the best kept secret. We swam in the freezing lake until we hiked about a half a mile more to our Hütte (traditional Alpine guesthouse). We had a well-earned dinner of Schnitzel and potatoes with the special schnapps made there. On Saturday, we were free to hike the area. Some people went to the peak, and other stayed in the area. I explored around the area and found the perfect hill to skip around and sing the classic "Sound of Music" tunes. What a beautiful experience! I jumped into the freezing lake that afternoon and loved every second of it. That night, we all played cards for hours and enjoyed each other's company. Sunday morning we began our trek down the steep mountain. It was tough, but again so rewarding. The clouds that morning were stuck in the valley and we had some beautiful views while hiking down. A group of girls and I sang lots of our favorite songs on the way down and made some of the most beautiful memories I will cherish forever! This excursion definitely set the bar high!
