Eat!

As many of you know, or will soon find out, I AM A FOODIE. I love to eat and am always looking to try new things. I hope you enjoy these mouthwatering pictures of food as much as I did eating the food in them!

Sachertorte with Tea in the Residence Platz!
Wiener schnitzel with a Grapefruit Radler at Stiegl brewery!
I was missing home and New Orleans food on Thursday!
Yes, I have already had 2 burgers here! I never thought I would, but the little place across the street from school has some of the best burgers and fries I've ever had!
We have a kitchen in our dorm, so I have been cooking most of my meals there. This is my meal from Saturday. It was a rainy day, and the combination of buttery zucchini, carby pasta, and some incredible sausage was such a comfort!

Yummy Gnocchi at a local Italian restaurant!

Himbeere Torte (raspberry cake) and Green Tea at the Kaffeehaus

Leberkäse with an egg and potatoes while enjoying the view at Tappenkarsee!

More home cooked meals! Zucchini is my favorite veggie because it's so naturally buttery and you can't even feel bad about it cuz it's a veggie. My roommate and I made some awesome curry because we both had major cravings for some spice! Finally, I made a pizzadilla that was oh so crisp

A few more meals I made at home! I made hash browns one morning, and there was smoke everywhere but it was totally worth it!

Kaffeehaus food here is amazing! Strudel and avocado toast!

Rupertikirtag food! So yummy! The brats were so so good, and the mustard is better than American mustard. On the right, is my favorite Austrian festival food so far. It's called "Langos," and it is a deep fried garlic bread filled with cheese and herbs. A group of us had a sweet tooth and got some frozen yogurt that was awesome and perfectly tangy like Greek yogurt. On the bottom right is Sturm, a young wine that tastes like sparkling grape juice.

Lately, I've been so busy traveling and posting about the many cities I've visited, that I haven't gotten to share my culinary feats! As the semester has gone on, I have increasingly gotten better and better at cooking! I've taken more chances and been more creative. It has been challenging to truly begin learning how to cook for myself in another country. The words for different foods aren't the same, and their palette is vastly different, making it difficult to find things sometimes. For example, I do not particularly enjoy Mexican food. It's something that I will eat, but I won't go out of my way for it (unless we're in New Mexico of course). Austrians don't seem to like it either, but the other week, I started craving it like nothing else! So I made guac and taco salad in the same week. Both were very yummy and I will be making them again! Ive also made pumpkin soup since discovering this incredibly comforting soup. Salmon and hashes have been fun to make, as well as fried rice, parmesan zucchini, and some mean grilled cheeses! I can't wait to come home and cook for my family, especially my brothers who never stop eating and have the best appetites.
